I am not a wedding photographer.  I am not a headshot photographer either but that's another story.  I always appreciate being asked and it is lovely to be offered work no matter the form.:)
That being said I DO do weddings.. Confusing, yes?  It is for me too.  The thing is I need not only to be able to do what I do freely but also I need to have some kind of connection to the couple.  I want to be at that wedding with the burning desire to bring out every meaningful moment and capture it on film.  Without that burning desire I don't know that I could do my best work and I know I wouldn't enjoy it.  What gets me off about shooting is getting the decisive moment, it's getting something someone else didn't see.  Ultimately this works for me and it works for the client.  It just also leads me to sometimes saying no.
All this being said I do have my next wedding booked.  I am shooting a beautiful couple in NYC mid June.  They compliment each other well and are involved in changing the world in positive ways (more on that later), what could be better?  I am already thinking of new techniques and feeling that slight bit of anxiousness that I want to make sure it is covered as best as possible.   This is a good sign.  This means it is the right couple.
